You know what, I guess 7 years ago (or thereabouts), I decided that I wanted to learn everything there was to know about decorative concrete Virginia installations. Therefore, I resolved that I would first, and foremost, need to go and visit a facility that specializes in stamped and decorative concrete installations and designs. So, I found one-Decocreteva.com-and arranged a 3-hour tour. What I can tell you is that I was literally knocked out of my rather bouncy boots by the total amount of information that someone needs to understand in order to specialize in the topic of decorative concrete design. If I started learning everything about it right now, I might know as much or perhaps more than the top experts in about five to ten years. Well now, I’ve got quite a lot of work cut out for me, don’t I. Better hit the books and get started. But I’m tired! I don’t feel like starting! Well, as Miss Mother Maple once said, star-like people don’t do things because they like to do them; they do them because they need to do them. I not only want to learn everything there is to learn about concrete systems, but I want to be able to singlehandedly do the installation of concrete systems without help from a stranger for industrial, residential, and commercial applications. With a lot of work and a little bit of luck, I should be able to learn everything about them very soon. And then it will be a grtand day. A very, very, happy day. I may novel sitting on a desk that nobody quite wants to read, but right now I know a thing or two about industrial flooring systems.
This article has been generously provided by Peak Logix, a Virginia-based leader in material handling and pallet racking refinement.
The non-profit organization Central Virginia Food Bank was faced with increasing demands for their services and dwindling resources, and needed to increase its pallet storage space capacity, At the same time, they aimed to improve accessibility to each load. PeakLogix installed a pallet racking system that includes selective pallet racking and pushback pallet racking. PeakLogix was able to formulate a plan to provide the racking system while not interfering with everyday business. The new system increased total pallet storage by 400 pallets in a dry storage area. Also, it allowed workers to access individual pallets without having to move any others in the process. Believe you me, the last thing you want are pallets moved if they don’t need to be. Well, long story short, this saved the non-profit both time and money.
It, indeed, had many dancing through the streets after its installation. So, to recap: PeakLogix installed a pallet racking system that includes selective pallet racking and pushback pallet racking of 2-deep, 3-deep, and 4-deep storage arrangements. The fresh new system increased total pallet rack storage by a whopping 32 pallet loads in the cooler, and 56 pallet loads in the freezer. It increased the total pallet number by such a substantial percentage that everyone involved in the project was quite satisfied. Finally, everyone involved in the project could sleep at night. It was a very, very long time coming, a long, long time, dear friend.
If you have an entrepreneurial mindset, then you would greatly enjoy living in the historic Villages at Staunton, Virginia. There are a wide varity of businesses that you could develop, if you’re so inclined. Relocate Staunton VA, and you’ll find a community of well-to-do people who enjoy spending money. So, what type of businesses could you open up? You could open a restaurant and brewery in the 20th century power plant in the neighborhood, or perhaps the hotel and spa industry is a better match for your fancy. If that’s true, then you’ll be pleased to know that there are ample opportunities to test your luck at starting your own hotel and spa shop in the 1800’s grand Jeffersonian building. You’ll really be making much more of an investment than a gamble though, so perhaps the phrase “trying your luck” doesn’t apply. People who live in Staunton have money and love to spend. I personally think you’ll enjoy living and succeeding there. So, go on. Hop on down to Staunton (or up, depending on what part of the country you are moving from).
Looking to make some extra cash this winter with a holiday job but have no prior experience? That’s not necessarily a deal breaker for all companies. With a little persistence you’ll still be able to score that perfect seasonal job - with or without a job history.
1. Look for entry level jobs - While hunting for a holiday job, look for jobs that don’t require much experience. You’ll have better luck getting a cashier job than you will a manager job.
2. Be willing to take a part-time job - Companies hiring for the holiday season frequently hire part-time workers. You might want a full-time job, but taking a part-time job instead can be a great way to get your foot in the door.
3. Tell employers about your strengths - You might not have any job experience, but we bet you have plenty of life experience that will come in handy in your new seasonal job. Perhaps you volunteered at a summer school or babysat your neighbors’ kids. The more you tell employers about yourself in the application, the more likely they are to hire you for a seasonal job.
